Notifying hazardous mixtures to a poison control center aims to provide the best medical advice and treatment to consumers in the event of exposure to them.

For years, many European countries required a declaration to their poison control centres for hazardous mixtures marketed on their national territory. 

As the contents of those declarations were very diverse between the countries, the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) has introduced a new notification platform to harmonize the declarations.
In order to facilitate identification of hazardous mixtures, a new labeling element, the Unique Formula Identifier (UFI), has also been introduced. 

From 1st January 2021, manufacturers, importers and even distributors will have to ensure the conformity of their products labels and related declarations.
