BPF: WHAT IS IT?

The Biocidal Products Regulation (EU) 528/2012 entered into force in 2013 so as to improve the level of protection and harmonise the regulation at a European level. In this context, all biocidal products have to be approved before being placed on the market.

It is possible to group several biocidal products under the same authorisation: this is called a biocidal products family authorisation. As this type of authorisation meets well-defined criteria, it is necessary to fully understand the specificities in relation to the concept of BPF introduced by the new regulation.

What is a family of biocidal products? What are the associated costs and timelines? Is it possible to add a new biocidal product to an already authorised family?

AGENDA

  • Definition and concept of biocidal products families
  • Costs and timeline for an application of BPF authorisation
  • Addition of new biocidal product in an authorised family
