With the Covid-19 pandemic, more and more people will be buying masks in the future. In several countries they are already recommended if not obligatory for the general public in public transportation or in the street.
In Europe, protective masks can be of two kinds: surgical masks, which are medical devices, and FFP (filtering facepiece) masks which are considered Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). The regulatory process is not the same with these two types of masks.
What are the main differences between the two? What are the associated legislations? What are the processes to launch these masks to the market?
