Since 2002, there is a specific Directive for food supplements (Directive 2002/46/EC) in Europe. These products have a specific status, distinct from other foodstuffs, yet, food supplements are also subject to the general obligations of food law. Moreover, the regulatory text applicable to food supplements being a Directive, Member States also have some specificities, more particularly with regards to authorized / restricted / forbidden plants.
Does your product meet the food supplement directive specifications? What are the different laws concerning food supplements? What information must be featured on your label? How to ensure the compliance of your product, whether you sell it online or in physical stores?
